Merrimack Bests Franklin Pierce, 3-1

N. ANDOVER, MASS. (Oct. 15, 2002) - The Franklin Pierce University
volleyball team fell to Merrimack College, 3-1, in Northeast-10 Conference volleyball action at the Volpe Athletic Center this evening.

Merrimack freshman, Lindsay Larson registered a match-high 17 kills and 15 digs to lead the Warriors. Diane Dynon added 14 kills and eight digs, while senior Katie Spellissy recorded 15 kills in the win.

Franklin Pierce was led by seniors Mandy Johnson (Orange, Mass./Maher Regional) and Catrina Cuevas (Aurora, Colo./J.I. O'Neill (N.Y.)). Johnson posted 13 kills, five aces, eight digs and four blocks, while Cuevas totaled 11 kills, 15 assists, 12 digs and four blocks. Freshman Tara Vece (Clinton, Conn./Morgan School) recorded a team-best 13 digs.

Franklin Pierce (8-9, 3-7 NE-10) returns to action on Thursday when it hosts Assumption College in a Northeast-10 Conference match at 7 p.m. Merrimack (5-11, 4-2 NE-10) next faces Adelphi and New Jersey Tech on Saturday.
