Pierce Earns First Place Finish
Ravens Compete Against
Middlebury, Mass Maritime, UMass Lowell
and Southern New Hampshire
LOWELL,
MASS. (April 18, 2004) – The
Franklin Pierce women’s crew team competed against Middlebury, Mass
Maritime, UMass Lowell and Southern New Hampshire today.
In
the first varsity four, the Ravens took a first place finish with a
time of 7:46.3, ahead of Middlebury (7:56.0), Mass Maritime (8:02.9),
UMass Lowell (8:36.5) and Southern New Hampshire (8:40.3). In the boat
for Franklin Pierce were Jennifer Wilson (East Lyme,
Conn./East Lyme), Maegan Gross (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal),
Lauren Bibby (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury), Trisha
Marcaccio (North Providence, R.I./North Providence) and
coxswain Colleen Houseman (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury).
Franklin
Pierce took second in the second varsity four with a time of 8:18.4,
finishing just behind Middlebury’s first boat, which had a time of
7:41.1 and ahead of Middlebury’s second boat (8:28.5). Racing for
Franklin Pierce were Kathleen Chance (Winslow, N.J./Winslow
Twp.), Alexis Ozimek (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville),
Amanda Ege (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman), Marybeth
Houseman (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury and coxswain Colleen
Houseman.
The Franklin Pierce crew teams will return to Lowell, Mass. to
compete in the New England Fours Championship on April 24th.
