The women's crew team finished first in the first varsity four on Sunday.

Franklin Pierce Earns First Place Finish
Ravens Compete Against Middlebury, Mass Maritime, UMass Lowell 
and Southern New Hampshire

 

LOWELL, MASS. (April 18, 2004) – The Franklin Pierce women’s crew team competed against Middlebury, Mass Maritime, UMass Lowell and Southern New Hampshire today.

In the first varsity four, the Ravens took a first place finish with a time of 7:46.3, ahead of Middlebury (7:56.0), Mass Maritime (8:02.9), UMass Lowell (8:36.5) and Southern New Hampshire (8:40.3). In the boat for Franklin Pierce were Jennifer Wilson (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme), Maegan Gross (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal), Lauren Bibby (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury), Trisha Marcaccio (North Providence, R.I./North Providence) and coxswain Colleen Houseman (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury).

Franklin Pierce took second in the second varsity four with a time of 8:18.4, finishing just behind Middlebury’s first boat, which had a time of 7:41.1 and ahead of Middlebury’s second boat (8:28.5). Racing for Franklin Pierce were Kathleen Chance (Winslow, N.J./Winslow Twp.), Alexis Ozimek (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville), Amanda Ege (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman), Marybeth Houseman (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury and coxswain Colleen Houseman.
            The Franklin Pierce crew teams will return to Lowell, Mass. to compete in the New England Fours Championship on April 24th.
