Pierce Competes in the Dad Vail Regatta PHILADELPHIA,
Pa. (May 13, 2004) – The
Franklin Pierce women’s crew team competed in the Dad Vail Nationals
Regatta
in Philladelphia.
On day one, the Ravens took
second in the women’s varsity four with a time of 8:20.3, just
behind LaSalle (8:14.4) and ahead of Robert Morris (8:30.5),
University of Florida (8:33.2), and Binghamton (8:46.7) to advance to
the semifinals. In the boat for Franklin Pierce were Jennifer
Wilson (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme), Kate
Chance (Winslow, N.J./Winslow Township), Trisha
Marcaccio (North Providence, R.I./North Providence), Alexis
Ozimek (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) and coxswain
Marybeth Houseman
(Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury). In the semifinals, Franklin Pierce finished fifth in its heat with a time of 7:48.7, just behind Dowling (7:19.5), North Carolina-Chapel Hill (7:26.2), Brandeis (7:41.2) and Wichita State (7:42.2) and ahead of Kansas (8:06.7). Despite missing out on a trip to the finals, the boat was just the second in Franklin Pierce history to qualify for the semifinals. |
