Franklin Pierce Crew Team Participates in New Hampshire Championships HOOKSETT, N.H. (Oct. 15, 2002) - The Franklin Pierce men's and women's crew teams participated in the New Hampshire Championships in Hooksett, N.H. this weekend. The men's lightweight and heavyweight fours plus coxswain raced in the men's open event, while the women's four plus coxswain raced in the women's open fours event. Bowdoin College claimed the top spots in both races, as the men's team finished with a time of 15:44.1, while the women's team finished with a time of 18:15.22. The Franklin Pierce men's heavyweight team had an excellent showing, placing fifth out of a field of 11 competitors with a time of 18:03.71. The men's lightweight team followed close behind with a sixth place finish with a time of 18:05.39. The Franklin Pierce women's team also performed well, placing sixth out of a field of 14 competitors with its time of 20:02.02. The women defeated teams such as Division I opponent, the University of New Hampshire and Northeast-10 rivals, Southern New Hampshire University in the event. Sophomore Emily Schwartz (Daly City, Calif./Westmoor) sat at the bow, while junior Christine Morchauser (Utica, N.Y./Notre Dame) and freshman Alexis Ozimek (Chadds Ford, Pa.) sat at the two and three seat, respectively. Junior Jennifer Wilson (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) was at stroke, while Marybeth Houseman (Shrewsbury, Mass./Schrewsbury) was the coxswain. The men's and women's crew team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 19, when it travels to Cambridge, Mass. for the world renown Head of the Charles race. Men's Open Fours
