Participates at New England Championships
WORCESTER, MASS.
(May 5, 2002) - The FP
men's and women's crew teams
closed out the 2001-02 season with top finishes in the New
England Rowing Championships in Worcester, Mass. on Saturday
afternoon. After qualifying for the grand finals in the
morning, the women's team placed fourth out of a field of
six top competitors.
FP
finished with
a time of 8:10.2, just one second behind Boston College,
and 17 seconds off the pace set by Bowdoin College. Jenn
Proux (Middlebury, Conn./Pomperaug) was at stroke,
Jenn Wilson (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme)
was at the three seat, Christine Morchauser (Utica,
N.Y./Notre Dame) was at the two seat, Mary
Beth Houseman (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) was
at the bow, and Julia Curran (Minneapolis, Minn./Saint
John's) was the coxswain.
The men's team qualified
for the petite finals and placed third with a time of 7:08.84,
just four seconds behind Holy Cross, who finished first
with a time of 7:04.71. The third place finish put the team
ninth out of 18 overall colleges competing in the event.
Zach Wood (North Adams, Mass./Drury) was
at stroke, Jasper Veldhuis (New Canaan, Conn./New
Canaan) was at the three seat, Noah Manders
(Framingham, Mass./Saint John's) was at the two
seat, Ryan Murphy (Northbridge, Mass./Northbridge)
was at the bow, and Colleen Houseman (Shrewsbury,
Mass./Shrewsbury) was the coxswain.
