Crew Teams Compete With the Elite at the Head of the Charles
BOSTON, MASS. (Oct.
20, 2001) - The FP
men's and women's crew team took
part in the world renowned Head of the Charles rowing competition
this weekend in Boston, Mass.
The men's team competed
in the club open fours, and posted a 47th place finish out
of 70 teams with their time of 19:07.31. The men's boat
was coxed by sophomore Colleen Houseman (Shrewsbury,
Mass./Screwsbury), while Noah Manders (Framingham,
Mass./Saint John's) commanded the bow, Randall
Wright (Stockholm, N.J./West Milford) was in the
number two seat, Ryan Murphy (Northbridge, Mass./Northbridge)
was in the number three seat, and Zachary Wood (North
Adams, Mass./Drury) was at stroke.
The women's team had
an outstanding showing at the races, as they placed 25th
out of 58 teams with their time of 20:43 in club open fours.
The women's team was led by freshman coxswain Julia
Curran (Minneapolis, Minn./Saint John's), who was
making her debut in open fours competition. Marybeth
Houseman (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) was positioned
at the bow, while Christine Morschauser (Utica, N.Y./Notre
Dame) was at number two, Jennifer Wilson (East
Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) was at number three, and
Jennifer Proulx (Middlebury, Conn./Pomperaug) was
at stroke.
The team competes
in its last meet of the season on Saturday, Oct. 27, when
they travel to Saratoga Springs, N.Y. for the Head of the
Fish.
