Match Times Set
Top-seeded men to host fifth-seeded Merrimack Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Third-seeded women head to second-seeded Bryant Thursday at 6 p.m.
 

RINDGE, N.H. (October 29, 2007) – Match times have been settled for the 2007 Northeast-10 Conference Men’s and Women’s Soccer Tournament semifinals this week.

            The top-seeded and No. 5-ranked Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer team (13-1-3, 11-0-2 NE-10) will host fifth-seeded Merrimack College (12-5-3, 6-4-3 NE-10) at Sodexho Field on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Admission to the match is free of charge. The third-seeded Franklin Pierce women (13-1-4, 9-1-4 NE-10) will visit second-seeded and 9th-ranked Bryant University (17-0-4, 11-0-3 NE-10) on Thursday at 6 p.m.

The Franklin Pierce men, looking to defend its 2006 NE-10 Tournament title, advanced to Wednesday’s semifinal with a 3-1 comeback win over eighth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University on Sunday night. Merrimack posted a 2-1 double-overtime victory at fourth-seeded and No. 19-ranked Le Moyne College yesterday to advance.

            The winner of Wednesday’s match will advance to Saturday’s Championship match to face the winner of Wednesday’s other semifinal between third-seeded Southern Connecticut State University (12-2-4, 9-1-3 NE-10) and second-seeded and 12th-ranked University of Massachusetts Lowell (12-2-3, 10-2-1 NE-10), also set to kickoff at 7 p.m.

            The Franklin Pierce women, defending a record seven-straight NE-10 Tournament crowns, advanced with a 3-0 victory over sixth-seeded Saint Anselm College at Sodexho Field yesterday. Bryant, who handed the Ravens their lone loss of the season (2-1) in Smithfield, R.I., on September 8, posted a 2-0 win over seventh-seeded UMass Lowell last night.

            The winner of Thursday’s match will advance to Sunday’s Championship match to face the winner of Thursday’s other semifinal between fourth-seeded Merrimack College (12-3-4, 8-3-3 NE-10) and top-seeded and 3rd-ranked College of Saint Rose (16-0-2, 12-0-2 NE-10).

            Match times for both NE-10 Tournament Championships is tentatively set for 1 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday.
