Willie
Davis Willie Davis is entering his third year as assistant men’s soccer coach at Franklin Pierce University. He assists head coach Marco Koolman in all aspects of team and individual training, match preparation, team recruiting and scouting. Since
joining the program, the Ravens have posted a 33-8-8 (.755) record,
captured back-to-back Northeast-10 Conference regular season
championships and the 2006 NE-10 Tournament title. Franklin Pierce
has hosted each of the last two NCAA Tournament New England
Regionals, capturing the title in 2005 en route to reaching the
National Championship match for the first time in program history. Davis
came to Franklin Pierce after relocating from Louisiana where he had
remarkable success as an organizer and coach at the youth and Olympic
Developmental Program (ODP) levels. Davis began the Rage Futbol
Federation (all girls premier club) in 1998 in Lafayette, La., before
making a move to Baton Rouge Soccer Club, where he spent four years
and was promoted to the Director of Player Development in 2004.
During his time in Baton Rouge, Davis helped guide one of his
three teams (U-16 girls) to a No. 16 national ranking.
Davis
has been the head state staff coach for two Louisiana ODP teams. He
has coached both girls and boys high school soccer, earning a State
Championship in 2001. He
currently holds a USSF “B” License as well as a National Y (youth)
license. Davis
played three years for the University of Louisiana-Lafayette from
1993-1996, serving as team captain his last year.
During his time with the Ragin’ Cajuns, he helped lead the
team to a Sun Belt Conference title in 1994, earning All-Conference
honors in ‘94 and ‘95. Davis went on to play with the Lafayette
Lightening PDL team for a season before turning to coaching full time. Originally from Fallschurch, Va., Davis spent a large part of life in Louisiana. He majored in pre-law at Louisiana-Lafayette and also taught physical education at Ascension Day School in Lafayette. He currently resides in Concord, N.H., with his wife, Eva Al-Khouri Davis, who is enrolled in Franklin Pierce’s physical therapy program. Willie and Eva welcomed their first child, daughter Syrianna Rajaa, into the world on June 13. In addition to his duties with the Ravens men’s soccer team, Davis is also the head coach of men’s and women’s tennis at the University. |
