Pierce Labor Day Classic RINDGE, N.H. (August 31, 2006) – The Nyack College men’s soccer team collected a 2-1 double-overtime victory over the University of Bridgeport this afternoon in the first game of the 2006 Franklin Pierce Labor Day Classic held at Sodexho Field. Nyack junior Tim Conway (Billerica, Mass) netted both goals for the Warriors, including the game-winner in the 109th minute of the match. The University of Bridgeport opened the scoring early when freshman LeRoux Lothian (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College) netted his second goal of the season just 5:55 into the match. LeRoux blasted a shot past the Nyack goalkeeper from 24 yards away to give the Purple Knights the early lead. The Purple Knight defense held Nyack silent in the first half, limiting the Warriors to only two shots in the frame. In the second half, Nyack responded early, as Conway posted his first goal of the game to knot the score at 1-1. Conway gained control of a loose ball in front of the goal and tipped it past Bridgeport goalkeeper Chris Clarke (New York, N.Y./St. John’s Prep) to tie the game. After a scoreless overtime period, Nyack broke the scoring drought as Conway connected for his second goal of the game halfway into the second overtime. Conway headed in a loose ball off a Nyack corner kick to seal the victory for the Warriors. Nyack goalkeeper sophomore Jack Carillo (Cornwall, N.Y.) totaled four saves to earn his first victory of the season, while Clarke posted three saves for the Purple Knights. Nyack College is back in action Saturday night as it visits #2 Franklin Pierce on day two of the 2006 Franklin Pierce Labor Day Classic.
