Joyce
Earns Second-Straight Joyce, who has been named Player of the Week for the third time this season (fourth career), played a role in six of Franklin Pierce’s eight goals with four goals and two assists for ten points in a 1-0-1 week. Joyce figured in all five first half
goals
in Saturday’s 6-0 victory over Saint Michael’s with three goals
and two assists. He set a school record with two goals in a 14-second
span that turned a 1-0 lead into a 3-0 cushion midway through the
first half. Joyce netted a penalty kick marker in Tuesday’s 2-2 draw
at No. 14 Merrimack College that put the Ravens up 1-0 in the first
half. Joyce
leads the Northeast-10 with 37 points and 16 goals, including a
Conference-best five match-winners, to go with five assists (3rd
NE-10). His hat trick on Saturday was his first of the season and
second of his two-year Franklin Pierce career. With his ten points last week, Joyce moved into seventh place on the College’s career scoring list with 89 points, while his 38 career goals are good for sixth all-time in 38 matches played over two seasons at Franklin Pierce. Joyce earned first team All-America, All-New England and All-Northeast-10 status in 2004 for the Ravens as he led the NE-10 with 22 goals to go with eight assists for a Conference-high 52 points. Franklin Pierce (8-4-3, 6-1-2 NE-10), ranked fifth in last week’s National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas New England regional poll, is back in action on Wednesday night for a key Northeast-10 Conference battle with UMass Lowell (9-3-1, 7-2-0 NE-10) that could have NCAA Tournament implications down the road. The two sides are separated by just a point in the Conference standings entering the week. |
