Franklin Pierce Dispatches
Saint Rose, 6-0

Bakker’s notches seven points and hat trick, McColl totals four points for Ravens

TROY, N.Y. (September 16, 2003) – Despite playing its fourth match in six days, Franklin Pierce coasted to a 6-0 victory over College of Saint Rose in Northeast-10 Conference men’s soccer action this afternoon.

Franklin Pierce remains perfect in NE-10 action this season with the win and snaps a two-match slide after playing two nationally ranked teams in Florida over the weekend. Sophomore forward Lars Bakker (Enschede, The Netherlands) led the Ravens offense again as he totaled seven points, including registering his first career hat trick to go with an assist, on the afternoon. Junior Troy McColl (Doonside, Australia) chipped in four points with a goal and two assists, while junior Kenneth Reid (Sarpsborg, Norway) added a goal and assist.

Junior Troy McColl chipped in four points with a goal and two assists.

The Ravens staked out a 4-0 lead by the break. Reid opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when he knocked in a cross from Bakker. Junior Mark Jansen (Enschede, The Netherlands) was also credited with an assist on the play.

Bakker and McColl then connected for a pair of markers in the 25th and 33rd minutes, before McColl rounded out the first half scoring with an unassisted tally for his first goal in a Franklin Pierce uniform in the 44th minute.

Bakker finished off his hat trick when he re-directed a Reid cross at the 65-minute mark. Sophomore Evan Luster (Newington, Conn./Newington) rounded out the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 79th minute.

Franklin Pierce freshman Joseph Luginsland (Ledyard, Conn./Ledyard) registered one save in 32 minutes of action before giving way to senior Domenico Roma (Windsor, Conn./Ste. Annes) for the final 58 minutes. Roma, appearing in his first match since being injured in the Ravens first match of the year, made two stops to preserve the combined shutout.

Saint Rose junior Ryan Gingrich (Plattsburg, N.Y./Seton Catholic) registered two saves in goal. Franklin Pierce out-shot the Golden Knights by a 15-5 margin for the match.
