Franklin Pierce State House Appearance Postponed
National Champion Ravens will still be recognized by the Rindge Board of Selectmen on Wednesday evening

RINDGE, N.H. (February 12, 2008) – The NCAA Division II National Champion Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer team's appearance at the New Hampshire State House, scheduled for tomorrow morning, has been postponed due to the impending snowstorm.  No new date for the ceremony has been announced as of Tuesday morning.

Both the Ravens men's and women's soccer teams, however, will still be recognized by the Town of Rindge Board of Selectmen on Wednesday evening, prior to their bi-monthly meeting in the Town Office at 7 p.m.

Franklin Pierce (17-2-4, 11-0-2 NE-10) captured its first National Championship in program history this fall, posting a 1-0 victory over Lincoln Memorial University on December 2 in Orange Beach, Ala. The Ravens also collected their third-straight Northeast-10 regular season title before earning their fifth-straight NCAA Tournament berth (13th overall), advancing to the Final Four for the third time in program history (1991, 2005, 2007).

The Franklin Pierce women (18-1-6, 9-1-4 NE-10) finished as national runners-up in the NCAA Division II Championships this fall, falling to the University of Tampa 3-1 in a penalty shootout after the two sides played to a scoreless double-overtime draw in the December 1 championship match in Orange Beach, Ala. The Ravens were making their 16th-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, capturing its 12th-straight New England region title on the way to earning their Division II record 14th Final Four berth and record seventh appearance in the championship match.
