Franklin Pierce scored two goals in a two-minute span late in the match to pull out the victory. Senior All-America goalkeeper James Thorpe (East Longmeadow, Mass./Bridgton Academy) made three crucial saves to preserve his ninth shutout of the season (46th career) for the Ravens. Senior Patrick Whalen (Conklin, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) made nine stops in goal for Saint Rose.

Sophomore Henning Comé (Gothenburg, Sweden) got Franklin Pierce on the board in the 79th minute with his 13th goal of the season. He took a pass from senior Mike Lima (Ludlow, Mass./Ludlow) and slotted a shot past Whalen. Junior Marek Hawrylik (Olsztyn, Poland/The Winchendon (Mass.) School) sealed the victory when he converted a penalty kick in the 81st minute after Comé was tripped up inside the 18.

The goals came just moments after Thorpe came up with two vital saves to keep the match scoreless. The first came off a drive from eight yards out by senior Todd Driscoll (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) in the 60th minute. Thorpe was forced to dive high and to his left to stop a free kick from 30-yards out by sophomore Justin Paden (Fishkill, N.Y./John Jay).
