RINDGE, N.H. (April 5, 2008) Bentley College outshot Franklin Pierce University, 23-9, as the Falcons earned a 13-3 victory in Northeast-10 Conference men’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Sodexho Field.

Bentley received at least one point from 11 players, including eight different players that scored one goal or more. Sophomore Kevin Gould (Duxbury, Mass./Phillips Andover) led all scorers with three goals, while junior Andy Curtis (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) had a goal and a team-high three assists for a game-best four points. Classmate Chris Woods (Duxbury, Mass./Tilton) and sophomore Addi Van Hatcher (Tigard, Ore./Oregon Episcopal) also had three points each on two goals and one assist.

Three Franklin Pierce players scored one goal each for the home team, including the second goals of the year for junior Ryan Boller (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) and freshman Jack Scanlan (Great Neck, N.Y./Great Neck North), while sophomore Lucas Hamory (Canton, Mass./Canton) recorded an assist.

Freshman Jack Scanlan scored his second goal of the season in the second quarter against Bentley.

Senior captain Luke Ferreira (Farmington, Maine/Mount Blue) also found the net for the Ravens, recording his 79th career point. The point moved Ferreira into sole possession of second place on the school’s all-time points list, breaking a tie with Jimmy Ward ’04 and putting him behind only Bill Paradis ’01, who had 103 points as a Raven from 1998-2001.

Franklin Pierce kept Bentley at bay for the first five minutes of the first quarter, before Steve Murray (Billerica, Mass./Billerica Memorial) broke the ice 5:05 into the frame. Woods and Murray again scored before the end of the first quarter, as the Falcons outshot the Ravens, 12-5 and netted the only three goals of the period.

Bentley outscored Franklin Pierce, 6-2, in the second quarter on the strength of three man-up goals to take a commanding 9-2 lead into the half. Van Hatcher began the period with a man-advantage goal only 38 seconds in to make the lead 4-0, but Scanlan responded 59 seconds later with his second of the year to get the Ravens on the board. Gould responded with 10:54 left in the period with a man-up goal, and capped the team’s 7-1 run to end the half with another man-advantage tally with 38 seconds left.

Gould netted his third man-up goal of the game with 4:55 remaining in the third period to give the Falcons an 11-2 lead headed into the fourth period, where Bentley scored two of the three goals to account for the final margin.

Three Falcon netminders took the field on the day, with junior Kris Dambach (Chester, N.J./ West Morris Central) playing the first 22:26 and making one save to earn the win. Freshman goaltender Shea Campbell (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) played the entire contest for the Ravens, making 10 saves and allowing 13 goals.

Franklin Pierce (2-4, 1-2 NE-10) continues a four-game homestand on Wednesday afternoon, when the Ravens host in-state rival Southern New Hampshire University for a 3:30 p.m. start. Bentley (5-3, 3-2 NE-10) returns home to host Bryant University on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
