Rooney Earns NE-10 Weekly Honors

RINDGE, N.H. (April 9, 2007) – Freshman Brendan Rooney (Newton, Mass./Newton) of the Franklin Pierce men’s lacrosse team earned Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week honors as announced by the Conference office this afternoon.
Rooney earns Freshman of the Week honors for the first time in his career after recording 13 points on six goals and seven assists in a 2-1 week for the Ravens. The rookie standout led the Ravens to a 24-4 victory over Green Mountain College with a game-high nine points on five goals and four assists. Rooney aided in the Ravens 23-4 victory over Norwich University with one goal and two assists, while chipping in with one assist in a setback to Bentley College.
This season, Rooney ranks first on the team in scoring with a team-high 25 points on 13 goals and 12 assists, while totaling 22 groundballs and .683 shots-on-goal percentage. Rooney also ranks among Northeast-10 Conference leaders in goals (T-9th), assists (3rd) and total points (2nd).
Franklin Pierce (3-5, 0-4 NE-10) will be in action again on Wednesday as it travels to Southern New Hampshire University at 7 p.m.
