Rolls Past Green Mountain, 24-4

POULTNEY, VT. (April 5, 2007) – The Franklin Pierce men’s lacrosse team earned a decisive 24-4 victory over Green Mountain College in non-conference action on Tuesday evening. The Ravens totaled a program record 24 goals to earn their third victory of the season.
Freshman Brendan Rooney (Newton, Mass./Newton) led the Franklin Pierce attack with a game-high nine points on five goals and four assists. Senior Michael Willis (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) was also solid with six points on three goals and three assists, while classmate Nick Cowden (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) added five points on two goals and three assists. Junior Luke Ferreira (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) totaled five points on three goals and two assists, while classmate Rob Frankel (Setaucket, N.Y./Ward-Melville) chipped in with five points on four goals and one assist.
Junior John Ryan Magruder (Tully, N.Y.) led the Green Mountain offense with a team-high three goals for three points, while sophomore Thomas Wheeler (Seattle, Wash.) recorded one point on one goal scored. Senior Nathaniel Davis (South Hadley, Mass.) and freshman Paul Reily (Chapel Hill, N.C.) chipped in with one assist each.
Sophomore transfer Ryan Hulse (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) and freshman Daniel Henning (Grafton, Mass./Grafton) were solid in net for Franklin Pierce. Hulse registered four saves in his first start of the season for the Ravens, while Henning added two second half saves. Junior goaltender Hale Tomasson (Greenwich, Conn.) recorded 14 saves for Green Mountain.
Franklin Pierce (3-4, 0-3 NE-10) will be in action again Saturday as it hosts Bentley College at 1 p.m. Green Mountain College (1-5) will travel to Castleton State on Monday at 4 p.m.
