#1 Le Moyne Shoots Past Franklin Pierce, 21-4
Longo leads Dolphins with a game-high six points;
Willis notches three points for Ravens

RINDGE, N.H. (April 17, 2006) – The Franklin Pierce Men’s Lacrosse team suffered a tough 21-4 loss to Le Moyne College, ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division II LaxPower Poll, in Northeast-10 Conference action this evening at Sodexho Field. The Dolphins posted an early 9-2 lead in the first half and registered seven unanswered goals in the final quarter to earn their eleventh victory of the season.

Le Moyne senior Jason Longo (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) led all scorers with a game-high six points, on three goals and three assists, while junior Ed Street (Manlias, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) posted four points, scoring one goal and adding three assists. Junior Matt Cassalia (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) and sophomore Tom Donahue (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) both chipped in with three goals apiece to round out the Dolphin offense.

Franklin Pierce junior Michael Willis (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) led the Ravens, totaling three points on one goal and two assists. Senior Nick Cowden (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) registered his seventh goal of the season to aid the Ravens offense, while freshmen Ryan Boller (New Cannan, Conn./New Cannan) and  Jason Flanigan (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) each contributed one goal each.


Senior Ben Lek made 21 saves in net for the Ravens against #1 Le Moyne College.

Le Moyne started the scoring early in the first quarter, scoring off the initial face off only nine seconds into the match. The Dolphins netted three more early goals to take the early advantage, but Franklin Pierce cut the lead to 4-2, as Willis and Flanigan posted scores for the Ravens. The Dolphins added five unanswered goals to close out the first period with a 9-2 lead.

After a scoreless second quarter, Franklin Pierce and Le Moyne traded a pair of goals in the early stages of the third quarter. The Dolphins notched two more goals at the end of the frame, including a buzzer beater by Donahue as time expired. In the fourth quarter, Le Moyne tacked on seven more goals to round out the victory.

 Le Moyne out-shot Franklin Pierce 59-19 and held a 25-11 advantage in groundballs. Dolphin senior goalkeeper Jared Corcoran (Concord, N.Y./Concord) collected his 11th win of the season, stopping two shots in net. Franklin Pierce senior goalkeeper Ben Lek (Gaithersburg, Md./Col. Zadok Magruder) posted 21 saves for the Ravens despite the loss.

 Franklin Pierce (0-10, 0-9 NE-10) will be in action again on Thursday as it travels to American International College for a match starting at 3:30 p.m. Le Moyne (11-0, 7-0     NE-10) will travel to American International College tomorrow at 12 p.m.
