Franklin Pierce Post Second Straight
Victory Over Green Mountain, 22-1
Ravens break four program records in win;
Boller leads Ravens with a game-high nine points

Freshman Ryan Boller led the Ravens with a season-high nine points on six goals and three assists.

RINDGE, N.H. (April 26, 2006) – The Franklin Pierce Men’s Lacrosse team earned its second victory of the season, defeating Green Mountain College 22-1 in non-conference season ending action this afternoon at Sodexho Field. The Ravens recorded 16 first half goals and added six scores in the second half to clinch their second straight victory.

This victory marks the first time in program history that Franklin Pierce has collected consecutive victories in a season. The Ravens also collected another trio of records, including largest margin of victory (21), most goals in a game (22), and fewest goals allowed (1) since defeating Daniel Webster College 18-3 during the 2004 season.

Franklin Pierce freshman Ryan Boller (New Cannan, Conn./New Cannan) led all scorers with a game-high nine points on six goals and three assists while sophomore Luke Ferreira (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) connected for six points on four goals and two assists. Junior Michael Willis and freshman Kyle Kruse (Bourne, Mass./Bourne) were also solid for the Ravens. Willis collected six points, tallying three goals and three assists while Kruse posted a hat-trick and two helpers.

Senior Ben Lek broke the single season record for save percentage, as he recorded a 12.01 save percentage this season.

Green Mountain College freshman Kevin Grevey (Great Falls, Va.) posted the lone goal for the Eagles, eliminating Franklin Pierce goalkeeper Ben Lek (Gaithersburg, Md./Col. Zadok Magruder) chances for the program’s first shut-out. With his six save performance in this match, Lek has accumulated a 12.01-save percentage this season, surpassing Andy Cote’s single season record of 14.30-percent.

 In the first quarter, Franklin Pierce opened the scoring quickly, as Ferreira tallied the first goal of the game off a feed from Boller just 1:01 into the match. Boller connected for the next three goals, while sophomore Rob Frankel (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville), senior Nick Cowden (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead), and Kruse each added a score to give the Ravens an early 7-0 advantage after one quarter.

In the second quarter, Franklin Pierce exploded for nine goals while limiting Green Mountain College to just one shot. Boller led the Ravens, registering three more goals, while Ferreira and sophomore Russell Hodson (Chillmark, Mass./Martha’s Vineyard) each tallied two scores.

Over the final two quarters, Franklin Pierce maintained control, registering six more goals. Green Mountain College managed to muster a goal in the third period, but that’s all the Ravens defense allowed. Franklin Pierce out-shot the Eagles 58-10 and held a 33-16 advantage in groundballs. Eagle goalkeeper sophomore JR Magruder (Tully, N.Y.) stopped 23 shots in net despite the loss.

Franklin Pierce ended its 2006 season with an overall record of 2-10, 1-9 in the    Northeast-10. Green Mountain College (1-9) will be in action again on Saturday as it travels to Cazenovia College at 1 p.m.
