Michael’s Cruises Past Franklin Pierce, 20-2
RINDGE,
N.H. (April 7, 2005) – The
Franklin Pierce men’s lacrosse team fell 20-2 to Northeast-10
Conference foe Saint Michael’s College tonight at Sodexho Field in
Rindge, N.H. The Purple Knights outscored the Ravens 11-1 in the first
half and never looked back, as they won their third straight game.
Saint Michael’s prevailed behind a balanced scoring attack in
which 11 players contributed points. Freshmen Mike Boerma
(Concord, Mass./Lawrence Academy) and Gregory Lazarus
(Evanston, Ill./Evanston), along with junior Brandon
Kobelt (Rye, N.Y./Fordham Prep) each notched five points to lead
the Purple Knights. Boerma racked up a game-high four goals, while
Kobelt contributed a game-best three assists. Lazarus netted a hat trick
and added a pair of helpers.
The Ravens goals were scored by freshman Luke Ferreira
(Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) and junior captain Nick
Cowden (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead).
Franklin Pierce was outshot 28-6. Saint Michael’s freshman
goalkeeper Jeff Hannon (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnecheaug Regional)
stopped four shots en route to his third victory of the season, while
Ravens freshman netminder Freeman Scott (Farmington, Maine/Mt.
Blue) took the loss. Franklin
Pierce (0-4, 0-3) wraps up its four-game homestand on Sunday, when they
host Northeast-10 Conference foe Bentley College at noon. Saint
Michael’s (5-2, 3-2 NE-10) will play their first of three-straight
home games on Saturday, when they host the University of Southern New
