Franklin Pierce Drops Opener to Lees-McRae, 23-6

BANNER ELK, N.C. (March 22, 2005) – The Franklin Pierce men’s lacrosse team suffered a 23-6 setback to non-conference foe Lees-McRae today in Banner Elk, N.C.

            Junior captain Nick Cowden (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) led the Ravens offensive attack with four goals and an assist. The freshman trio of Luke Ferreira (Farmington, Maine/Mt.Blue), Russell Hodson (Chillmark, Mass./Martha’s Vineyard) and Mark Frongillo (Holliston, Mass./Hollison) also tallied points for Franklin Pierce. Ferreira and Hodson notched goals, while Frongillo added an assist.

Franklin Pierce (0-1) will open up their Northeast-10 Conference slate on Wednesday, March 30, as they host Bentley at 6 p.m. Lees-McRae (1-5) will play again on Saturday at Mars Hill starting at 7 p.m.
