Assumption
Upends Franklin Pierce, 16-3
RINDGE,
N.H. (April 5, 2005) – The
Franklin Pierce men’s lacrosse team sustained a 16-3 setback versus
Northeast-10 Conference foe Assumption College tonight at Sodexho Field
in Rindge, N.H. Junior Jeremy Bomba (Wakefield, Mass./Malden
Catholic) racked up a game-best five points on a hat trick and
two assists to lead the Greyhounds.
Assumption jumped out to a quick 4-0 advantage and led 8-2 at the
half. The Greyhounds continued their dominance in the second half,
outscoring Franklin Pierce 8-1 to secure the victory.
Sophomore Bryan Parks (Somers, Conn./Somers) and
freshman Brian Tuomi (Groton, Mass./Groton-Dunstable)
netted hat tricks, while sophomores Neil Donnelly (Boylston,
Mass./St. John’s) and Steve Seero (Andover,
Mass./Andover) chipped in with a pair of markers apiece for
Assumption.
All three Franklin Pierce goals were scored by freshman Luke
Ferreira (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue). Senior Nick
Mincolla (Cohassett, Mass./Governor Dummer Academy) added an
assist to round out the scoring for the Ravens.
Assumption senior goalkeeper Matt Hoffman (Westfield,
Mass./Westfield) saved 17 shots en route to his second win of
the season, while Ravens freshman netminder Freeman Scott
(Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) took the loss despite stopping 15
shots. Franklin
Pierce (0-3, 0-2 NE-10) continues its homestand with a Northeast-10
Conference contest versus Saint Michael’s College on Thursday at 6:00
p.m. Assumption (2-3, 2-2 NE-10) will play its second of seven straight
road games tomorrow at Southern New Hampshire University beginning at
4:00 p.m. Assumption 16, Franklin Pierce 3
