Saint Anselm Handles 
Franklin Pierce, 16-3
Mincolla, Mandatori each tally goal and assist

MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 14, 2004) – Saint Anselm College posted a 16-3 victory over Franklin Pierce in Northeast-10 Conference men’s lacrosse action at Melucci Field this afternoon.

            Tim Armstrong (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) netted five goals to lead Saint Anselm, while Mike Smith (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) totaled six points with two goals and four assists. Kevin Allwarden (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) added five points with two goals and three assists and Cliff Ambrose (Beverly, Mass./Bridgton Academy) chipped in a goal and three assists.            

Senior Derek Mandatori (Newton, Mass./Newton North) and junior Nick Mincolla (Cohasset, Mass./Gov. Dummer Academy) paced the Franklin Pierce attack with a goal and assist each. Senior Jimmy Ward (Lynn, Mass./Lynn Classical) netted the Ravens remaining marker.

            Andrew Roy (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) registered 14 saves while playing just the second half for the Hawks. Freshman Matt Cloutier (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) posted 11 stops for the Ravens.

            Saint Anselm jumped ahead with two goals in the opening three minutes. Franklin Pierce answered and after Mincolla knotted the score at 2-2 at the 10:45-mark, the Ravens trailed just 5-2 after a quarter of play. The Hawks responded with a 4-0 scoring margin in the second stanza to take a 9-2 lead into the intermission and led 13-3 after three periods of play.

            Franklin Pierce (1-7, 0-4 NE-10) returns to action on Saturday when it hosts No. 8-ranked Pace University at 2 p.m. Saint Anselm (3-5, 2-3 NE-10) visits Merrimack College on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
