Edges
Senior Matt Goldblatt (Norwich,
Conn./Pomfret Academy) led Assumption’s scorers with three
goals. Freshman Bryan Parks (Somers, Conn/Somers) and
classmate Mike Dowling (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) each
chipped in two goals, while sophomore Jeremy Bomba (Wakefield,
Mass./Malden Catholic) registered a goal and two assists and
senior Adam Kelly (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth) added a
goal and an a helper.
Senior Jimmy Ward (Lynn, Mass./Lynn
Classical) led the Ravens with three goals and sophomore Nick
Cowden (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) recorded two tallies.
Junior Nick Mincolla (Cohasset, Mass./Gov. Dummer Academy)
followed, netting one goal and freshman Ryan St. Cyr
(Manchester, N.H./Trinity) dished an assist. Freshman Matt Cloutier (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) posted 20 saves for the Ravens, while junior Matt Hoffman (Westfield, Mass./Westfield) stopped 21 shots and earned the victory for Assumption.
Franklin Pierce took a 1-0 lead into the
second quarter on Cowden’s first of the game, but Goldblatt answered
for the Greyhounds to knot the score with 12:56 remaining in the first
half. The Ravens then tacked on three more in the half while holding
Assumption to one goal over that stretch, to take a 4-2 lead into the
intermission.
However, the third and fourth quarters
belonged to the Greyhounds as they held the Ravens to a goal in each
and tallied seven of their own, including a five-goal third quarter.
Parks scored the eventual winning goal for Assumption with 1:01 left
in the third.
Franklin Pierce (3-11, 1-8 NE-10) returns
to action on Saturday when it hosts no. 6 Bryant at 1 p.m. Assumption
(4-10, 3-5 NE-10) next travels to Pace on Thursday for a Conference
game at 3:30 p.m.
