Franklin Pierce Soars Past 
American International, 14-3

Ravens collect first Conference victory of the season

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 22, 2004) – Franklin Pierce picked up its first Conference victory of the season with a 14-3 victory over American International College in Northeast-10 Conference men’s lacrosse action at John Homer Miller Field this afternoon.

            Senior Jimmy Ward (Lynn, Mass./Lynn Classical) led the Franklin Pierce attack with five goals, while classmate Derek Mandatori (Newton, Mass./Newton North) and sophomore Nick Cowden (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) each netted three goals for the Ravens. Junior Nick Mincolla (Cohasset, Mass./Gov. Dummer Academy) chipped in with two goals, while freshman Mike Willis (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) added a goal and two assists.            


Senior Derek Mandatori chipped in three goals.

Andrew Crook (Mansfield, Mass.), Raheem Allen (Tuckahoe, N.Y.) and Pat Weinert (Wilton, N.H.) registered goals for American International.

            Franklin Pierce scored the first two goals of the contest, before the Yellow Jackets cut the lead in half 4:28 into the contest. The Ravens then reeled off the final ten goals of the opening half to take a 12-1 lead into the intermission.

            Freshman Matt Cloutier (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) posted 15 saves in goal to preserve the victory for Franklin Pierce. Adam Slys (Pembroke, Mass.) made 11 stops for AIC.

            Franklin Pierce (2-9, 1-6 NE-10) returns to action on Saturday when it hosts No. 1-ranked Le Moyne College at 1 p.m. American International (0-9, 0-8 NE-10) travels to Southern New Hampshire on Saturday at 1 p.m.
