Assumption Runs Past Franklin Pierce, 15-5 WORCESTER, MASS. (April 28, 2003) - The Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse team suffered a 15-5 loss at the hands of Assumption College in men's lacrosse action this afternoon. Junior Jimmy Ward (Lynn, Mass./Lynn Classical) led the Ravens with a pair of goals, while sophomore Nick Mincolla (Cohasset, Mass./Gov. Drummer Academy), junior Dean Patty (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) and senior Andrew McEntee (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) all added markers for Franklin Pierce. The Greyhounds were led by junior Matt Goldblatt who totaled three goals and dished two assists. Sophomore Joe Lancour also added three goals, while freshmen Jeremy Bomba and Steve Smith each chipped in a pair of goals.
The teams were held scoreless until the Greyhounds drew first blood with Lancour's first of the afternoon at the 10:29 mark. The Greyhounds continued on with six unanswered goals before Franklin Pierce responded with a goal from Mincolla, his 22nd of the season, midway through the second quarter. Assumption kept attacking, scoring two more goals to hold a 9-1 advantage heading into intermission. The Ravens offense started to pick up in the final two quarters, as Franklin Pierce scorers combined for four goals, but it wouldn't be enough to overcome the Greyhound lead. Franklin Pierce goalkeeper, Andy Cote (Middleton, Mass./Masconomet), totaled 18 saves in 60 minutes of work, while Assumption sophomore Matt Hoffmann made 12 stops in 60 minutes in net.
