Cesere nets seven and dishes six assists
to lead Penmen
MANCHESTER, N.H. (March 30, 2002)
- The Franklin Pierce University
men's lacrosse team opened
up the Northeast-10 Conference regular season with a 26-9
loss to intra-state rival, Southern New Hampshire University
in League action this afternoon.
Southern New Hampshire scored 16
unanswered goals in the first and second periods before FP
junior Andy McEntee (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset)
scored his first of three goals to end FPC's scoring drought.
Southern New Hampshire's Mike Cesere
netted seven markers and dished six assists in the win,
while junior Kyle Hintlain recorded six goals and five assists.
McEntee totaled three goals and one
assists, while senior Ken Beaudette (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire)
added three goals.
FP
goalkeeper Andy Cote (Middleton,
Mass./Masconomet) made 24 saves in 59:00 minutes
in net. Southern New Hampshire netminder Davis Shields made
seven stops in 38:00 minutes, while Nick Beltz made six
in the final 22:00 of regulation.
The win helps the Penmen close in
on FPC, who now holds a slim 7-6 advantage in the annual
"101 Challenge" series, a head-to-head competition between
the two rivals. FP
claimed the inaugural "Challenge," 9-5,
during the 2000-01 academic year.
The Ravens (0-2, 0-1 NE-10) return
to action on Tuesday, April 2, when they travel to Green
Mountain College for a non-conference matchup at 3:30 p.m.
Southern New Hampshire (1-2, 1-2 NE-10) next hosts Bentley
College in a NE-10 matchup at 1 p.m.
