WINCHENDON, MASS. (April 9, 2002)
- The Franklin Pierce University
men's lacrosse team fell to
Assumption College, 16-9, in Northeast-10 Conference action
at Winchendon School in Winchendon, Mass. this evening.
The win marks Assumption's first Conference victory of the
season.
Sophomore Frank Julianello led the
Greyhound offense with four markers, while classmate Adam
Kelly dished five assists to go along with a pair of goals.
Freshman John Ryan added two goals and two assists and sophomore
Matt Goldblatt chipped in three goals.

sophomore Jake Holmes (Freeport,
Maine/Freeport) tallied three goals and one assist,
while classmate Jimmy Ward (Lynn, Mass./Lynn Classical)
extended his scoring streak to four games with two goals
and an assist.
Assumption jumped out to an early
three-goal lead in the first quarter with a goal from Ryan
and two goals from Julianello. FP
answered at 8:25 of the
second as freshman Josh Falcone (Windham, Maine/Bonny
Eagle) netted a wrap around tally to cut Assumption's
lead to two goals.
The Greyhounds went on to score ten
unanswered goals in the second and third quarters, until
senior Ken Beaudette (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire)
took a pass from Holmes and beat Assumption netminder Matt
Hoffman on the right side to make the score 11-2.
The Greyhounds tacked on one more
goal before the Ravens went on a five goal rally late in
the fourth quarter to cut Assumption's lead from nine goals
to five. Assumption quieted FPC's charge, however, with
two goals in the final minutes of regulation.
Hoffman made 20 saves in 60 minutes
in net for the win. FPC's Andy Cote (Middleton, Mass./Masconomet)
made a season-high 39 saves in 60 minutes of work.

(0-6, 0-4 NE-10) returns to action
on Thursday, when it hosts Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10
Conference action in Winchendon, Mass. Assumption (2-5,
1-4 NE-10) next hosts Southern New Hampshire University
in Worcester, Mass. at 3:30 p.m.
