Drops Heartbreaker
to Daniel Webster
NASHUA, N.H. (April 16, 2001)
- Franklin Pierce College, seeking its first win
of the season, dropped a heartbreaker at Daniel
Webster College, 8-7, in a non-conference men’s
lacrosse match this afternoon.
After the two squads played
through a scoreless first period, FP
struck first
with a goal from junior Peter Giano
(Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset), the first of his collegiate
career, early in the second stanza.
However, Daniel Webster
reeled-off seven-straight goals to take a 7-1 lead.
The Ravens closed the gap to 7-2, just before halftime.
FP
came out in the third
period, and narrowed the gap to 8-5, and pressured
more in the final quarter and got within 8-7 on
a goal from junior Gary Levy (Newton,
Mass./Newton North) with 1:02 left in regulation. FP
could not get any closer, however, and was dealt
its fourth-straight loss of the spring.
Senior Bill Paradis
(Nashua, N.H./Nashua) led the Ravens offense with
three goals, while junior Ken Beaudette
(Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) totaled a goal and two
assists. Levy, Giano and sophomore Jake Fisher
(Troy, N.Y./Averill Park) each recorded a goal and
an assist in the match.
Sophomore goalkeeper Andy
Cote (Salisbury, Mass./Masconomet) kept
the Ravens alive with 17 saves in net.

(0-4, 0-3 NE-10) returns
to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Saint
Anselm College for a match at 3:30 p.m.
