AIC Stymies
FPC, 13-10
WINCHENDON, Mass. (April
26, 2001) - In search of its elusive first win of
the season, Franklin Pierce University
dropped a heartbreaker
to American International College, 13-10, in Northeast-10
Conference men’s lacrosse action at the Winchendon
School this afternoon.
Junior Jason McKenzie
(South Hadley, Mass./South Hadley) netted a game-high
six goals to pace the Yellow Jackets to its second-straight
victory and third of the season.
FP
trailed 6-3 at halftime,
but rallied to take a 7-6 lead with four quick goals
to open the third period. AIC answered with a pair
of its own to regain the lead, 8-7.
FP
rallied again with three
goals, two from junior Ken Beaudette
(Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire), to take a two-goal lead
with 9:58 to play. But AIC answered just 12-seconds
later and netted four more down the stretch to stymie
the Ravens.
Senior Bill Paradis
(Nashua, N.H./Nashua) tallied six goals and an assist
to lead FPC, while Beaudette added three goals and
two assists. Junior Gary Levy (Newton,
Mass./Newton) dished four assists.
Sophomore Justin Kean
(West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) and freshman
Art Wright (Brattleboro Vt./Wilbraham-Monson)
each netted two goals, while sophomore Joe Bonilla
(Central Islip, N.Y./Brentwood) dished three helpers
for the Yellow Jackets.
Juniors Matt Natle
(Shutesbury, Mass./Amherst) and Paul LaCoste
(Keene, N.H./Keene) and senior Bob Parker
(Windham, N.H./Pinkerton) each added a goal and
an assist for AIC.
AIC junior Corey Pelkey
(Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) recorded 20 saves
for the Yellow Jackets, while FP
sophomore Andy
Cote (Salisbury, Mass./Masconomet) stopped
27 shots for the Ravens in goal.
FP
(0-7, 0-6 NE-10) returns
to action on Saturday, when they travel to Syracuse,
N.Y., to face Le Moyne College at 1 p.m. AIC (3-6,
2-4 NE-10) hosts New Hampshire College on Saturday.
