Franklin Pierce Finishes 15th
at Dowling September Shootout
Panopoulos leads Ravens with score
of 161 over two-day event
RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (September
17, 2007) – The
Franklin Pierce University golf team opened the 2007 fall season with a
15th-place showing at the Dowling College September Shootout
on the par-71 Long Island National Golf Club.
Franklin Pierce
completed the two-day event today with a score of 676 (336-340), while
Northeast-10 Conference rivals Assumption College took the team title
with a score of 605 (303-302). Bentley College’s Bobby Leopold earned
medalist honors with a two-day score of 146 (74-72) to narrowly edge out
two golfers by a single stroke.
Sophomore
Peter Panopoulos
(Rindge, N.H./Conant)
led Franklin Pierce with a combined score of 161 (78-83) to finish tied
for 37th overall. Senior
Craig Jasinski
(Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford)
posted a score of 163 (78-85) for a 45th-place finish.
Franklin Pierce
returns to the links next weekend for the ECAC Division II Championship,
hosted by Le Moyne College, at Drumlins Country Club on Sunday and
Monday.
