BREWSTER,
Mass. (October 17, 2005) - The
Franklin Pierce men’s golf team is tied for 34th out of
45 teams competing at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association
(NEIGA) Championships on the par-72 The Captains Golf Course this
afternoon.
Franklin Pierce posted a 341 team score, good for ninth among
Division II programs at the event that features programs from all
three NCAA Divisions from New England. The University of Rhode Island
leads the team event with a 295 team score, seven strokes ahead of
both Dartmouth College and Brown University with identical scores of
302.
Freshman
Jacob Greene (Gardner, Mass./The Winchendon School)
carded a nine-over-par round of 81, putting him in a tie for 65th
overall among the 226 individuals competing at the event. University
of Connecticut’s Jason Parajeckas leads the way with a
three-under-par 69 on the first day.
Freshman
Steve Balchunas (Brockton, Mass./Coyle-Cassidy) posted
an 86 for the Ravens and is tied for 146th overall, while
senior David Reid (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) and
freshman Corey Dunn (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Comsewogue)
each posted rounds of 87 (T-159).
The 2005 NEIGA Championship concludes on Tuesday.
