in Two Midweek Golf Invites

take fifth at Worcester State Invitational; 15th at 33rd

N.H. (April 20, 2006) - The
Franklin Pierce men’s golf team took part in two midweek
invitationals on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Ravens placed fifth out of
15 teams at the Worcester State College Invitational on Tuesday,
before finishing 15th out of 20 at the 33rd
Annual Lou Flumere Invitational, hosted by Bentley College, on
Wednesday.
Franklin Pierce posted a 323 team score in Tuesday’s
Worcester State Invite at Sterling Country Club in Sterling, Mass., to
take fifth place. Western New England College took the team title with
a score of 305. The Ravens led a solid contingent of Northeast-10
teams competing.
Freshman
Steve Balchunas (Brockton, Mass./Coyle Cassidy) led
Franklin Pierce with a round of 77. Sophomore Craig Jasinski
(Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) carded a 79 for the Ravens,
while classmate Kevin Rossi (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston)
produced a round of 82.
On
Wednesday, Franklin Pierce posted a 337 team score to take 15th
overall at the Lou Flumere Invitational. Salem State University won
the team title with a 302 team score. The Ravens were fifth among
Northeast-10 Conference programs competing at the event.
Freshman Corey Dunn (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Comsewogue)
led Franklin Pierce with a round of 81, good for 37th
overall. Kyle Pelletier, from UMass Dartmouth, earned medallist honors
with an even-par 72.
Balchunas added an 84 for the Ravens (60th), while
freshman Jason Kreps (Culver, Ind./Culver Military Academy)
and Rossi each carded an 86 (65th).
Franklin Pierce returns to the links on next Wednesday, April
26, when it hosts the Franklin Pierce Spring Invitational at The
Shattuck, in Jaffrey, at noon.
