Franklin Pierce Fifth 
at Saint Anselm Fall Classic
Smith finishes three strokes off the pace with 78

CANDIA, N.H. (October 7, 2004) – The Franklin Pierce men’s golf team placed fifth at the Saint Anselm Fall Classic held at Candia Woods Country Club this afternoon.

            The Ravens posted a 351 team score as host Saint Anselm College took top honors with a 317 team score, followed by Assumption College (321). The Hawks were led by freshman Mike McCann (Tyngsboro, Mass.) who earned medallist honors with a round of 75.

            Senior Mike Smith (Hanover, Mass./Hanover) paced Franklin Pierce as he carded a 78 to finish three strokes off the pace for sixth overall among individuals. Junior Josh Jarnot (Concord, N.H./Concord) was next for the Ravens with a round of 90.

            Franklin Pierce returns to the links next Wednesday when it hosts its second Fall Invitational of the season at The Shattuck beginning at noon.
