for 21st place finish overall
STOW,
Mass. (April 8, 2004) –
The Franklin Pierce men’s golf team opened its spring season with a
21st place finish at the 31st Annual Lou Flumere
Invitational, hosted by Bentley College, at Stow Acres Country Club
this afternoon.
The Ravens, competing in their first event of the spring season
without the benefit of a team practice, posted a 354-team score, which
ranked eighth among the nine Division II programs at the 24-team
event. UMass Dartmouth took the team title with a score of 304.
Junior Nick Matulonis (Springfield, Mass./Springfield)
carded an 80 (38-42) to lead Franklin Pierce and tie for 21st
among the individual leaders. Senior Mike Smith (Hanover,
Mass./Hanover) posted an 85 (42-43), while sophomore Dave
Reid (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) registered a 92
(47-45).
Adam D’Amario of Western New England College earned medallist
honors with a 74 (37-37).
Franklin Pierce returns to the links on Tuesday, April 13, when
it participates in the Worcester State College Invitational.
