12, 2002) - The Franklin Pierce University
men’s golf team
opened its spring schedule with a 12th-place finish among
21 schools at the 29th Annual Lou Flumere Massachusetts
Intercollegiate Golf Championships at Stow Acres Country
Club this afternoon.
Sophomore Aaron
Nackoul (Pittsfield, Mass./Pittsfield) fired a five-over-par
77 to tie for third place in the overall field, seven strokes
behind Brent Amaral of UMass-Dartmouth.
Nackoul led all Division
II golfers and earned medalist honors for the Lou Flumere
Open among Division II schools, plus College of the Holy
Cross.
UMass-Dartmouth captured
the overall championship with a 316 team score, while FP
placed 12th with a 346 team scored. Host Bentley College
earned the Division II honors with a 324 team result, two
strokes better than Holy Cross (326), while FP
was third
in the group of six schools.
Senior Tim Esposito
(Brewerton, Mass./Paul V. Moore) completed a round
of 89 to place 61st overall and 15th in the smaller group.
Sophomores Chris De George (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug)
and Paul Izzi (Wilton, Conn./Wilton)
both shot 90’s to tie for 61st and 18th, while classmate
Alex Hodgman (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury)
posted a 94 to finish 94th and 24th.
The Ravens return
to the links on Tuesday, April 16, when they travel to Sterling
Country Club to compete at the Worcester State College Invitational
at noon.
