Franklin Pierce Falls to #4 Salem International, 86-76
Hunt named to All-Tournament team after 27-point performance

SALEM, W.V. (November 30, 2002) - The Franklin Pierce men's basketball team dropped an 86-76 decision to Salem International College, ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division II East Region and No. 4 in the latest NABC/Division II Bulletin National rankings, in the consolation game of the 2002 Joe Manchin Classic this afternoon. The loss is the fourth straight for the Ravens.

Senior guard Wykeen Kelly led the Tigers with 22 points, shooting 8-for-13 from the floor. Classmate Kenia Williams followed with 20 points, shooting 7-9 from the field and 6-7 from the line, while junior Jason Dunham chipped in 12 points, two steals and three rebounds in the win. Senior Chucky Fine led the defense with six boards.

Franklin Pierce junior Jimmie Hunt (Utica, N.Y./Mount Ararat (Maine)) led the Ravens with a career-high 27 points to go along with three rebounds and two steals. Hunt was named to the All-Tournament team, averaging 20 points per contest in the two-day event. Classmate Derek Rodgerson (Newburgh, Maine/Hampden Academy) recorded 16 points and two steals, while senior Sharod Campbell (Dorchester, Mass./Boston English/Roxbury C.C.) led the defense with five rebounds.

The Tigers came out shooting in the first half, hitting 17-for-21 (81%). Salem International held a 48-42 lead at the break and continued to build on its lead in the second half, shooting 11-24 (45.8%) and 62.2% for the game.

The Ravens (0-4, 0-2 NE-10) return to action on Wednesday, when they face Bentley College in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup in Waltham, Mass. at 7:30 p.m.
