Anselm Edges Franklin Pierce, 77-67 Manchester, N.H. (January 3, 2003) - Saint Anselm won its third straight game, and first home contest of the season with a 77-67 win over in-state rival Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 Conference game in Manchester, N.H. Saint Anselm improves to 5-5 overall, 3-4 in the Northeast-10 while Franklin Pierce dips to 3-8 on the season, 1-5 in league play. Saint Anselm led throughout
the game and led by as much as 21 points on a trey by Matt Hendershot
before a late Franklin Pierce comeback made the game close. FP In the first half, FP
Freshman Matt Cahill led all scorers with 21 points in an impressive display. He shot 6-for-9 from the floor and 7-for-8 from the charity stripe in 28 minutes. Darlington Okerulu also had a solid showing as well with 16 points and 13 rebounds and Hendershot chipped in 13 points on 4-for-5 shooting. Franklin Pierce was led by Sharod Campbell (Dorchester, Mass.) who had 16 points and 14 rebounds. He shot 7-for-11 from the floor but the rest of his teammates were cold as they shot a combined 16-for-68 (.235). Saint Anselm returns to action on Sunday when the Hawks travel across the river to face in-city rival Southern New Hampshire in a 3:30 PM tipoff.
