23 points, Uri Grunwald sinks 19 to lead River Hawks
LOWELL, MASS. (December
5, 2001) - Franklin Pierce University
men's basketball
team suffered their second straight Northeast-10 Conference
loss dropping a 74-51 decision to UMass Lowell in the Costello
Gym this evening.
The River Hawks dominated
right from the opening tip-off, as they jumped out to a
32-7 lead midway through the first half. FP
attempted to
close the gap, making a 21-10 run with 1:21 left in the
opening stanza. The River Hawks were unstoppable, however,
as they drained 17-of-23 (73.9%) from the field to take
a 45-31 lead by halftime.
UMass Lowell continued
its hot play in the second half, thanks to Elad Inbar, who
led all players with 23 points, six assists, four steals
and eight rebounds. Uri Grunwald followed with 19 points
and four assists.
FP
was led by V.J.
Kwity (Torrance, Calif./West), who connected on
2-of-2 from three-point range and 10-of-10 from the free
throw line for a season-high 20 points. Sophomore Jimmie
Hunt (Utica, N.Y./Mount Ararat (Maine)) followed
with 11 points.
The Ravens return
to action on Saturday, when they host College of the Saint
Rose at 3 p.m. in the FP
Fieldhouse. The River Hawks next
travel to Adelphi for a non-conference matchup at 7:30 p.m.
