men's basketball
team notched their first League win of the season defeating
Southern Connecticut State by a score of 76-69 in Northeast-10
Conference action at the FP
Fieldhouse this evening.
FP
jumped out to
the early lead, making an 8-0 run 1:30 after tip-off. FP
continued to walk all over the Owls, as they built a 15-point
lead by the 5:15 mark of the first half. Southern Connecticut
fought back and cut FPC's lead in half to make the score
36-28 and the end of one.
FP
dominated from
the three-point line shooting 7-for-10 (70.0%) to build
another 15-point lead midway through the second half. The
Owls attempted a comeback, making a 10-3 run at the 9:15
mark of the second, but the Ravens quieted the charge with
a three-point bucket from Derek Rodgerson (Newburgh,
Maine/Hampden Academy).
Sophomore Jimmie
Hunt (Utica, N.Y./Mount Ararat (Maine)) registered
a season high 25 points and seven boards for the Ravens,
shooting 8-for-13 (61.5%) from the floor, 5-for-7 (71.4%)
from the three-point line, and 4-for-4 (100%) from the line.
Senior Kevin
Scott (Mississauga, Ontario/Iona Catholic) recorded
15 points and three steals for the Ravens, while Rodgerson
added 14, shooting 3-for-5 (60.0%) from the three-point
line and 5-for-7 (71.4%) from the field.
Tom Waterman
(Bangor, Maine/Bangor/Maine) was also outstanding,
dishing a season-high 11 assists and three steals in the
win.
Southern Connecticut's
Aaron Davis led the Owls with 15 points and eight rebounds.
Senior forward David Grenade recorded a double-double, totaling
14 points and 10 rebounds.

returns to action on Sunday, December 2, when it hosts Southern
New Hampshire University in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup
at 5 p.m. in the FP
Fieldhouse. Southern Connecticut (3-3,
1-2 NE-10) next visits Assumption College for a NE-10 battle
on Saturday, December 1 at 3:30 p.m.
