MANCHESTER, N.H.
(December 12, 2001) - Franklin Pierce University
men's
basketball team fell to Saint Anselm College by a score
of 84-66 in Northeast-10 Conference action this evening.
FP
took the Hawks
by storm, building a solid 10-2 lead just five minutes after
tip-off. The Ravens squandered the eight point lead after
the Hawks made a 10-3 run at the 9:09 mark of the first
half to knot the score 20-20. The Hawks then went on another
10-4 run to take the 37-31 lead by halftime.
The Hawks were too
much for the Ravens in the second half, going on a devastating
14-0 run at the 8:48 mark to pull away for good.
Senior Todd Manuel
exploded in the second half, scoring 17 points in the final
stanza. Manuel totaled a season-high 28 points and grabbed
seven rebounds to lead the Hawks. Mike Zieja was also outstanding,
sinking 10-of-15 for a total of 24 points.
V.J. Kwity (Torrance,
Calif./West) led the Ravens with 16 points and seven
boards, while sophomore Jimmie Hunt (Utica, N.Y./Mount
Ararat (Maine)) totaled 13 points.

returns to the hardwood on Friday, December 28, when it
faces the University of the District of Colombia in the
California (Pa.) Tournament at 6 p.m. Saint Anselm (5-3,
4-3 NE-10) next faces Central Washington University at the
Rollins College Tangerine Classic on Friday, December 28.
