Stonehill Blanks Franklin Pierce, 9-0

RINDGE, N.H. (March 29, 2007) – Stonehill College cruised to a 9-0 victory over Franklin Pierce in Northeast-10 Conference men’s tennis action this afternoon.

            Senior Matt Grabala (Bristol, Mass./Kingswood-Oxford), sophomore Will Herchel (Hampden, Mass./Minnechaug) and freshmen Michael Mashkevich (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) and Mike Leone (Catuamet, Mass./Bourne) were all double-winners for Stonehill. Grabala posted a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles and combined with Mashkevich for an 8-1 triumph at No. 2 doubles. Mashkevich was also 6-4, 6-0 winner at No. 2 singles, while Leone picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles and Herchel was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 4 singles.  

            Franklin Pierce (1-3, 1-3 NE-10) is back in action Saturday when it visits Conference power Assumption College at 1 p.m. Stonehill (8-1, 4-0 NE-10) travels to Saint Michael’s College on Saturday at noon.
