Saint Michael’s Tops Franklin Pierce, 9-0

COLCHESTER, Vt. (April 17, 2007) – Saint Michael’s College clinched the fifth seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference men’s tennis championships with a 9-0 victory over Franklin Pierce this afternoon.

Junior Andy Samara (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) and sophomore John Lescure (Kennebunk, Maine/Berwick Academy) were both double-winners for Saint Michael’s. After the pair combined on an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, Lescure claimed a 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) victory at No. 1 singles, while Samara was a 6-2, 6-3 victor at No. 2.

Franklin Pierce (2-8, 2-8 NE-10) closes out the 2007 season tomorrow afternoon at Le Moyne College at 2 p.m. Saint Michael’s (8-9, 6-5 NE-10) will face fourth-seeded Bryant University in quarterfinal round action of the Northeast-10 Tournament on Thursday.
