Named NE-10 Freshman of the Week
Cutchougue, N.Y. native earns his first
Conference honor
RINDGE, N.H. (April
1, 2002) - Franklin Pierce University
freshman Maciej
Szpakowski (Cutchougue, N.Y./Cutchougue) was named
the Northeast-10 Conference tennis Freshman of the Week
today by the Conference office.
The honor is a first
for Szpakowski, who earned the honor after his outstanding
performance at #4 singles and #1 doubles in FPC's 7-2 win
over Stonehill College last week.
Szpakowski blanked
Stonehill's Brandan Towers 6-0, 6-0 and then went on to
notch an 8-4 victory at #1 doubles with teammate Darko
Minic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia/XII Belgrade Gimnasium).
Szpakowski currently
sports a 3-1 record at #4 doubles, with a perfect 2-0 record
against NE-10 opponents. Szpakowski holds a combined record
of 8-5 in his doubles matches with Minic.
Franklin Pierce (6-6,
2-2 NE-10) returns to the courts tomorrow, when it travels
to Southern New Hampshire University for a Northeast-10
Conference matchup at 5 p.m. The match was originally scheduled
for Wednesday at 4 p.m.
