SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 13, 2007) –
The
Franklin Pierce University women’s cross country team placed 11th
at the Western New England College Invitational today.
Franklin Pierce posted a 285 team score, while winners
Clark University turned in a score of 57. Worcester Polytechnic
Institute (81 points) and Castleton State College (94) rounded out
the top three. Western New England’s Kaylee Martin took medalist
honors as she completed the five-kilometer course in 19:54.
Junior
Courtney Garrity (Manchester, N.H./Manchester Central)
led Franklin Pierce, placing 43rd out of the 105 runners
with a time of 23:28. Freshman
Sonja Foster (Newport, Vt./United Christian Academy)
placed 71st with a time of 25:15.
Franklin Pierce concludes its season next Sunday at the
Northeast-10 Conference Championships, hosted by Stonehill College.
