The
Hawks finally broke the Ravens stingy defense in the 38th
minute when sophomore Ashley Mazzoli (Somers, Conn./Somers)
beat goalkeeper Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn./Morgan School)
to give her team the 1-0 advantage. The unassisted goal came on Saint
Anselm’s first shot of the match and was Mazzoli’s second of the
year. Franklin Pierce fought back to knot the score at one, as senior Amanda
McIntosh (Madison, N.J./Madsion) celebrated senior day by
netting her first career goal in the 54th minute of play.
Neither team scored for the remainder of the second half, sending the
match to overtime.
Junior Trisha Langevin (Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham)
ended the match 11:20 into overtime, as she capitalized on a Franklin
Pierce penalty corner opportunity to notch her first goal of the
season. The game-winner, which was assisted by senior Elise
Porter (Pepperell, Mass./North Middlesex), gave the Ravens a
2-1 victory.
For the match, Franklin Pierce outshot the visitors 12 to four
and earned a 15 to three advantage in penalty corners. Pietraszuk
saved three shots en route to her second win of the season. Saint
Anselm goalkeeper Lisa Bellantoni (Hanover, Mass./Hanover)
took the loss despite saving nine shots.
