Field Hockey Team Drops First NE-10 Match
Nationally-Ranked Assumption Rallies
for 2-1 Win
WORCESTER, Mass. (September 30, 2000) - Stephanie Fleming
(Feeding Hills, Mass.) scored a pair of unanswered goals
Saturday as Assumption College rallied to beat the Franklin Pierce University
field hockey team, 2-1, in a Northeast-10
match.
The loss was the
first conference setback suffered by the Ravens (5-3, 4-1
NE-10) in this, their inaugural season in the NE-10.
Freshman forward Debbie
Jones (Escondido, Calif.) put the Ravens ahead in the fifth
minute with her second goal in as many matches.
However, Fleming allowed
the nationally-ranked Greyhounds (6-3-1, 3-2 NE-10) to tie
the match in the 19th minute, and got the game-winner in
the 63rd minute. Assumption came into the match ranked 10th
nationally in Division II.
The Ravens look to
rebound Tuesday when they travel to face perennial power
Bentley College in a 7:30 p.m. match in Waltham, Mass.
