Academic All-American and All-Conference candidate. Unheralded leader of the Ravens starting rotation. Quietly produced one of the top seasons in program history in 2004. Control pitcher needs to throw strikes to be effective. Enters his final season as the program's career earned run average leader (3.00). Also ranks among career leaders at the College in strikeouts (6th), innings pitched (7th), appearances (8th), wins (9th) and complete games (10th). Coming off another solid summer in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL).
Summer 2004: Played his second summer with the North Adams SteepleCats in the NECBL. Made 13 appearances, one start, and posted a 2-4 record with a team-best four saves (T-7th League) and a 3.47 ERA. Totaled 24 strikeouts with just ten walks in 23.1 innings and opposing batters hit just .195 against him.
2004: Made 13 appearances (all starts). Was 4-5 with a team-low 2.23 ERA (10th NE-10), 79 strikeouts (3rd) and just 30 walks in a team-high 96.2 innings (3rd). Opposing batters hit a mere .202 against him (3rd NE-10) and he also totaled five complete games and three shutouts. Received just 3.69 runs of support per game. Etched his name among single-season leaders at the College in innings (2nd), ERA (2nd), strikeouts (7th) and appearances (8th). In Northeast-10 play, made eight starts and posted a 2-3 record and 1.70 ERA with 51 strikeouts and 21 walks in 63.2 innings, limiting batters to a .193 average. Held righties to a .199 average and hitters batted just .161 against him with runners on base, .142 with two outs and .073 (3-41) with runners in scoring position and two out. Earned his first win of the season with a shutout of New Jersey Institute of Techonology (3/14) in Fort Myers, Fla. Scattered seven hits and a pair of walks with nine strikeouts in the seven-inning game. Fired a three-hit shutout at American International (3/27) with a career-best 13 strikeouts. Combined on a shutout at Bryant (4/3), yielding six hits with six strikeouts and a pair of walks over seven innings. Allowed just two unearned runs on five hits in a win at Bentley (4/8). Yielded just three runs, two earned, on six hits with nine strikeouts in a 3-1 loss to Bryant (4/28). In two postseason starts, was 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA, eight strikeouts and just two walks in 16 innings, limiting opposing batters to a .127 average (seven hits). Fired a two-hit shutout with five strikeouts and just one walk to eliminate Saint Anselm at the NE-10 Tournament (5/8). Named NE-10 Pitcher of the Week once (3/14).
Summer 2003: Honed his skills with the North Adams SteepleCats in the NECBL. Made nine appearances, all in relief. Was 1-0 with a 0.73 ERA, 14 strikeouts and seven walks in 12.1 innings of work. Opposing batters hit just .163 against him.
2003: Made ten appearances with eight starts. Posted a 4-0 record with a 2.87 ERA, 42 strikeouts and 25 walks in 37.2 innings of work. 10.04 strikeouts per nine innings was a team-best. Opposing batters hit just .216 against him overall, including .214 (12-56) with runners on base and .179 (7-39) with two outs. Was 2-0 with a 0.63 ERA, 14 strikeouts and seven walks over 14.1 innings in two starts at home. In seven appearances, six starts, against the Northeast-10-mandated wood bats, finished 3-0 with a 2.92 ERA, 28 strikeouts and 18 walks in 24.2 innings. Was 1-0 with a 2.77 ERA, 14 strikeouts and seven walks while limiting opposing batters to a .191 batting average in 13 innings over three appearances, two starts, against aluminum. Picked up his first collegiate win against Minnesota-Duluth (3/20) as he yielded two earned runs on two hits with five strikeouts over 5.1 innings of work. Earned a win against Stonehill (4/6) as he allowed just one earned run on three hits with a career-best 11 strikeouts in seven innings. Notched his third win against American International (4/16) as he allowed just an earned run on seven hits with nine strikeouts and two walks over eight innings.
2002: Made six relief appearances for the Ravens. Did not receive a decision as he totaled ten strikeouts in 6.2 innings. Made his collegiate debut with an inning of work against Northern Colorado (3/19) in which he struck out two. Pitched a scoreless inning, striking out the side, against Fitchburg State (4/18).
High School: 2001 graduate of Drury High School. Two-year letterwinner. Served as captain as a senior. Had a solid senior year in which he posted a 4-1 record with a 2.80 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched. Tossed a complete-game one-hitter against Wahconah Regional without issuing a walk and struck out five on 63 pitches (44 strikes). Also played first base and batted .306 with three doubles, a triple and 11 RBI in 15 games played. Participated in the Bay State Games. Also lettered in basketball.
Personal: Born November 10, 1982, in North Adams, Mass. Son of Jim Borowski and Debra MacDonald. Has two older sisters, Jaime (35) and Laura (34). Majoring in sports and leisure service management.
