N.H. (April 25, 2004) –
Franklin Pierce, ranked No. 6 in this week’s National Collegiate
Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Northeast Region poll,
won its third one-run game of the weekend with a 1-0 victory over
Stonehill College, ranked fourth in the region, in a key Northeast-10
Conference baseball matchup at Gorman Field this afternoon.
The
win is a record 12th-straight for Franklin Pierce, which
completed the key three-game weekend series sweep of Stonehill by
posting one-run victories in each contest. The Ravens posted 5-4 and 6-5
wins in Rindge, N.H., on Saturday, winning both games in their last at

despite yielding just an unearned run on four hits and three walks with
eight strikeouts over nine innings. Sophomore Elliott Shea (Jaffrey, N.H./Conant) paced the Franklin Pierce offense as he finished 1-for-4 and scored the lone run of the contest. His two stolen bases which set up the winning run were the 21st and 22nd of the season, surpassing teammate Eric Cavers (Otisfield, Maine/Oxford Hills) single-season record of 20 set in 2003.
Shea
reached on an error to lead off the Ravens fourth and stole second. With
one out, he stole third and scored when Stonehill freshman catcher Matthew
Dudley’s (Norton, Mass./Norton) throw sailed into leftfield.
Freshman
