Junior Chris Shank earned
his third straight NE-10 honor after an outstanding
showing against Bentley and Stonehill last week
|
Junior righthander Chris Shank
(Westminster, Mass./Oakmont Regional) was named
Co-Pitcher of the Week in the Conference, marking the second
time he has earned Pitcher of the Week accolades and his
third NE-10 honor of the year as he copped Player of the
Week kudos last week.
Shank continues to dominate on the
mound as he earned his third win of the season in four decisions
to lead FP
to a 9-1 victory at Bentley on Friday. Set the
tone early as he fanned the first six batters he faced en
route to retiring the first ten batters in order overall.
Shank yielded just one earned run on five hits with a season-high
14 strikeouts and just one walk in eight innings of work.
The lone run he allowed came in the seventh inning after
the Ravens had built an 8-0 lead and the only walk he issued
came in the eighth. The 14 K’s were just one shy of his
career-best.
Shank has posted a 3-1 record so
far this spring and also leads the Ravens with a 2.25 ERA
and 41 strikeouts (13.18 per nine innings) in 28 innings
pitched. Opposing batters are hitting just .130 against
him this year and he is yielding 0.71 walks and hits per
innings pitched (WHIP).
FP
(6-7, 2-1 NE-10) returns to action
on Wednesday when it travels to Manchester, N.H., to face
Conference rival Saint Anselm College at 3 p.m.
