Blood Promoted to Seattle's
Single-A advanced team in San Bernardino
Hunter Brown, the Seattle Mariners
22nd-round choice in the June 2002 draft, has been assigned
to the Everett AquaSox.
A senior at Rice University, Brown
and his team made it to game seven of the College World
Series this year before being eliminated by Notre Dame last
Monday. An infielder at Rice,
Brown batted .278 (59x208) with seven home runs, 35 RBI
and 10 stolen bases during the regular season.
Pitcher Justin Blood and infielder
Eddie Menchaca leave today for San Bernardino, the Mariners
single-A advanced team in California.
Blood, a left-handed reliever, made
two appearances with the AquaSox this season. He struck
out eight batters in four innings of work and allowing one
hit. He earned his first save of the season in Sunday’s
game against the Spokane Indians.
Menchaca, who made brief appearances
with the Mariner’s Triple-A and Double-A affiliates at the
start of this season, was batting .182 (4x22) with three
RBI in six games with the Sox.
